From Our Community
Our son, Cooper, is in preschool currently. He is deaf and uses cochlear implants and sign language. We have been receiving services through the school district since we got his diagnosis at six weeks. I cannot give enough praise to the district’s early intervention services. He has a deaf/HoH teacher who works with him and models speech and sign language. His teacher and team as a whole recognize the importance of hearing breaks and the reality of hearing fatigue. He gets all the breaks he needs and is never pushed to keep his devices on. Sign language is utilized often. The district also provides a Foundations For Literacy program specifically for deaf/HoH children taught by his same teacher. I have not had to push for a single service for Cooper. Every base has been covered from the moment we got his diagnosis to where he is now. I am continually amazed at the level of investment from his team and I truly cannot express my gratitude for Alexandria Public Schools early intervention and early childhood programs. From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for understanding and loving and believing in my child.Beth Leipholtz, EEC parent
Preschool at the Early Education center has been an awesome experience for my family. It has prepared my children for elementary school. They have learned more than just the educational side, they are learning social and emotional skills as well.
The teachers are incredible! All the way from family classes, special education, speech therapy to everyday classroom teachers. This place has been a second home for my family to grow!

We have thoroughly enjoyed many years at the Early Education Center for all four of our kids! What a wonderful place for children and parents alike! As a family, we have learned many skills guiding us through the early childhood period of development. We truly appreciate both the ECFE and preschool programs offered. They have helped us prepare all of our children for tremendous success! The Meichsner Family
Our child's teacher has been the best fit for our daughter. Attentive, caring, and clear. We are so grateful for her and our experience. Our daughter has grown so much this year and we are confident that she is equipped to start kindergarten in the fall!parent response - spring survey 2023
We are so grateful for Alexandria Public Schools Preschool. Our child has grown in her confidence and speaking abilities as well as academic knowledge. We particularly like all the resources available to her. The teachers, paraprofessionals and speech teachers are all right there and easily collaborate with each other. The classrooms with lots of natural light and trips to Shenanigans are a bonus as well!Laura hartsell, parent
